Day 27 We grab a Tuk Tuk to our guesthouse "Singharat" and head down to the night market to have a look around. The night market was huge, although we can't really buy much as our backpacks are heavy enough already! We stop off for some food and then head back to plan our trips during our stay and work out how the Lao Kip currency differs to the pound. Day 26 Pak Beng must be the equivalent to England's Slough...it was raining as we left the boat and then our backpacks were thrown on the dampened mud for us to collect, with kids picking them up and trying to charge people for moving them 2 meters at best. Day 24 (continued) After the 3 hour bus journey to Chiang Khong, we arrive at our not so lovely guesthouse. Our room consisted of a very unsecured door with 2 single mattresses inside, the shared bathroom was outside the room down a walkway. However at £2 a night each it was hard to complain, plus we were only staying here for 1 night! Day 19 The bus to Chiang Rai took about 3 hours and the journey was good (no windy roads here). However it was pouring with rain so we got a Tuc Tuc to what we thought would be our hostel only to realise that he has taken us to the wrong place once he pulled up. He then disappeared for about 10 minutes before re-emerging with a Thai lady who could speak English, she gave him instructions and a little while later we had arrived at Fun D hostel. Day 17 (continued) We are greeted at the bus station by about 10 Tuc Tuc drivers pretty much stopping us from getting off the bus trying to sell us a ride. I can easily understand how paparazzi get punched by celebs, it is the most annoying thing ever! We speak with one driver who doesn't know where our new guest house is (Cumpun guesthouse) after speaking to his mates for about 10 minutes they finally find out how to get there - this didn't fill us with confide...
