Hi Kids!
It's been a few days since my last blog, it's been that busy. We just got through doing 7 shows in 5 days, 6 of those were in Toledo OH, at the Stranahan Theater, by far the largest theater we've been in so far. Come to think of it, at 2400 seats, it's the largest theater I've ever performed in.But first we stopped off in Elyria OH at the Stocker Arts Center located on a college campus. Don't ask me which college, the name escapes me at the moment. And while the theater itself held a relatively small crowd the back stage and wings were much bigger than the last few stops.
It was nice to have the elbow room. It seemed to be a very quick stop for us, more than some of the other one night shows we've done so far. I suppose it was because a lot of us were looking to Toledo because that would be our first stop in a large theater and we'd be there for four days. The Stranahan is the first taste of a theater that also has the larger equity shows come thru like "Phantom of the Opera" or "Mama Mia." And also many of the non-equity shows that I remember auditioning for in New York like "Annie" and " Jesus Christ Superstar." These shows are either following us or preceding us around the country in many of the same theaters.
But the Stranahan!... wow! The place is immense backstage, we could probably do the whole show in one or the other wings it's so large. We were able to use most all of our sets and props for the first time since York PA. It really got us spoiled. And speaking of spoiled, the dressing room Erik and I were in had a shower and a separate lounge with sofa and comfy chair...nice. I feel guilty being put in a dressing room like that, I feel I should be with the rest of the guys and leave the star treatment to Erik, he deserves it...after all, he does all the work.
But the shows were great if I do say so myself. We had full houses every night and the last house we had on Sunday night was really rockin'. We all had a blast and it was a great way to end up our time in Toledo. Now we hop back on the bus and head to Birmingham AL to stop for the night before we head to Baton Rouge LA. And all of us are excited to be down south where it's not 14 below!!!
Be back soon!
