Just 8 of us went on the Barcelona tour. First we went around the town seeing the Gothic section which is the old part of town. This part was founded 2000 years ago by the Romans and was the entire city until the 1800s when the rest of the city was built. We saw the old port and the boat works where Columbus' ships were built to sail to America. Toured the Ramblas area where the tourists and young people hang out. We'll be back here tomorrow since we drove right by our hotel. Our guide said that Spain is a popular vacation site for Europeans because it is so much cheaper than the rest of Europe.

We went to the Sagrada Familia, a large church under continuous construction. I went up one of the towers but Mom said no for her. Then we went to the Abbey of Monserrat, high up on a mountain. We were also able to see and hear "La Escalonia", the oldest boys choir in the world. We had lunch up there as well. Then we returned to Barcelona to see Park Guell. This was a housing area built for the rich many years ago, a planned community that went bust after selling only 3 of 60 homes on lots. The owner turned it into a park. Beautiful tile and stone work. We returned to the ship by 5.

We went out to dinner at 7:30 with everyone one last farewell to all our friends we met. The entire staff did a march through the dining room to celebrate the "Baked Alaska " they're famous for. We checked for any new pictures posted and I wrote this blog while Mom put the finishing touches on our suitcases and set them outside our door by 11. We bought a portable luggage scale on the ship and I hope it works. We're very close to the 50lb limit per bag. We have to be off the ship by 10:30am tomorrow morning. Then well head to our hotel on The Ramblas for our final night in Europe.
