We had no plans for this port when we arrived at noon. We took a bus shuttle that HAL offered to get us to the old town. We walked around after the 2 1/2 mile bus trip when I noticed a bunch of people walking through this big stone archway. We headed that way and as soon as we got to the inside, we found a whole town inside the walls. No vehicles, just walking streets. The buildings were very old and beautiful. We found out that much of the town was damaged in the 1991 Serbian war but had been repaired over the last 20 years.
Mom walked though the town, checking out the sites and stores. Their style of jewelry was not to her liking. Everything was shaped like balls or owls. I bought a shirt and coffee cup. She bought a pirate shirt for Jonathan. We stopped in a narrow alley for lunch: lasagna, salad and a beer, including free wifi. The food was great and the wifi fast. We left the town after that and returned to the ship by 6pm
We got cleaned up, dressed up and went to the fancy dinner place. We met some nice people from Pittsburg at our table. Then we went up at 9 to the lido for a masquerade ball. We had masks that Mom had bought in Venice that we wore and they picked us to be in the best costume contests. We didn't win but we weren't the best. Afterwards, we went up to the crows nest bar for happy hour and listened to the music there while we watched the ship sail away from the port. Tomorrow it's Kotor.
