It's another relaxing sea day. I don't remember much about this day, not because I was drunk or asleep all day. I didn't write anything because I was busing finishing up the previous days in our blog. Yes, I was behind and needed to catch up. Since today was just a "sea day", I concentrated on cleaning up earlier posts, adding pictures and writing details missed in a few entries to prepare for sending. Nevertheless, we must of done something.
After breakfast, we went to a lecture at 11am. The subject concerned our next two stops in Canada, St.John's and Halifax. Barbara was the lecturer and her presentations are always very interesting. I can't comment on our lunch but I can guarantee we ate something. From the photos, it was probably pork. We attended the 2:30pm event "Ask the Captain", an informative Q & A session with our Captain Marco Carsjens who takes questions from our fellow passengers about the ship, typical life as a captain and how he chose this profession. Very interesting.
He says that prior to the Rotterdam sailing through Prince Christian Sound, Holland America hires a helicopter to fly the route, looking for ice that could prohibit our ship from progressing through the channel. There are only a hand full of locations wide enough for the Rotterdam to turn around and exit the Sound so they need to know beforehand that the pathway is clear. If not, they take the less scenic route around the tip of Greenland. Hmm.
I can't say what happened the rest of the day or who we dined with this evening. I do know that we went to the show at 8pm to see Andy Bunger, a musician that played multiple instruments, his favorite being the Romanian Nai or Pan flute. He was very good. Keep in mind, these shows are only 45 minutes long so, good or bad, the time goes quickly. I can only assume we went to sleep at some time in the evening.
