While we have no excursions planned for today, we still have a lot of things to get done before we arrive in San Diego tomorrow. With two-thirds of the passengers booked on this cruise boarding tomorrow, this is the day to do anything without facing any crowds. Today, the pools and spas are almost empty, restaurants and lounges offer the best seating with views and no one is shopping. For one day only, we have the ship to ourselves. Well, almost. There's just a few hundred people on a ship that can accommodate 1250 passengers. Tomorrow it will be full. We start our day with breakfast.
Usually there is a long line for custom-made omelets. For me, if there's any line at all for any type of food, I'll find something else but today, Mom is the only person at the omelet station and I take advantage of the photo op. For me, it's a custom waffle and fruit bowl. Next, it's down to deck 4 to verify my stockholder's credit. No record of it? I don't think so. I have copies of all the paperwork I submitted months ago and since I fully understand and expect that "Everyone's an idiot!", I anticipate a quick and favorable resolve. Besides, Mom's already perusing the onboard shops so I will need the money. I usually earmark the $250 for internet.
We send in my tux for pressing, call for a toilet repair and get Mom her sharps container. While Mom wanders about the ship, I wrap up yesterday's entry and download pictures from three cameras and phone. Temperature is about 66F today. Soon it's time to go to our Cruise Critic Meet & Greet up in the Crow's Nest at 4pm. I'm in charge of passing out the name badges that I made. It's also happy hour from 4-5pm. Good timing! Karen & I meet many of the CC members and compare travel notes. We have a very pleasant time with 45 of us present. After San Diego, we will have another meet with well over one hundred guests. My labels are a big hit.
Mom is exited about the entertainment planned for tonight. Josh Grobin, Andrea Bocelli and Frank Sinatra will be singing onboard tonight (or renditions from the likes of those stars). These guys from Australia were very good but we had to do a quickie dinner to get to the theater by 7pm. After that, we returned to the stateroom to prepare for tomorrow and to allow me to write today's blog. I signed up for Internet privileges tonight. 1000 minutes for $250. While I can write and load pictures into the IPad, I can't sync pictures with the text or send out the blog without Internet service and it's not the fastest here on the ship. I probably won't be able to send any of these posts until Saturday, October 3 when I will get some free time. My tux has been returned this evening nicely pressed and wrapped.
Tomorrow we will meet Queenie in San Diego as she has promised to show us around for the day. We arrive at 8am and sail away for Hawaii at 5pm. No answer on my stockholder's credit yet.
