More from John:
Moved today to the Diani beach chalets. This is the slightly run down place I spoke of but we are sceptically happy with our choice. The nice aspect of this place is that we are within spitting distance of the beach , the only draw back is that we have gone from monkey town to baboon town. Monkeys you can kind of growl at or throw a rock at like the locals do and they flee. With baboons if they become aggressive or want what you have you run like a scared cat. Hadn't been to the new place for more then an hour and one opened the door and walked into the kitchen. This beast if he stood upright would be about 4 and a half feet tall and could probably bench press a small car. He fled past us as I held a chair up to him and at the same time was backing up so fast I completely knocked ace off her feet. Long story short all is well but these basters scare the crap out of me. They say it was an unusual occurrence hope they are right. As I wright this i can hear some on the tin roof from time to time. I could deal with the small stealing monkeys but they are not around because the baboons eat there young kinda tells you something about them.
Been a rough couple of days was getting fancy trying new kite loop tricks and managed to crash hard enough to not only blow the valve in the kite but also to bruise my ribs bad enough that I missed a few days. I am back on the water today trying not to take deep breaths.
Don't want to gloat as K town is in a deep freeze but this place is some thing else breeze every day with sun and warm water, never before sailed in shorts alone.
Planning next 3 weeks headed for a few tours. First to an island for the day called Funzi for snorkelling , lunch and dolphin play. Then at some point a 2 day safari at Tsavo east notional park, finally a one day trip to Simba national park. Must confess not the cheapest trips I have had in my life but can't pass the opportunity to see the African wildlife and landscape.
No Bulls***, which those who know me will attest to, missing what sounds like the best winter K-town has had in a while, I am enjoying my trip but looking forward to sailing the frozen lake on my return
If anyone can tell me how to heal my ribs a little quicker Im all ears, thanks for listening chat soon.
