Last day in Barcelona.
We went to the Picasso Museum before heading to the bus station. The museum wasn't too large but it was pretty cool. In addition to the normal pieces there was a temporary exhibit about Picasso and Degas (and the similarities/relationships between them). This was a pretty interesting section. I especially liked the pieces on dancers and ballerinas. I never realized how similar their works were at times.
My favorite part, by far, was the whole series 'Las Meninas'. This was a series that Picasso did based on 'La Familia de Felipe IV or Las Meninas' by Velázquez. Mom and I saw this very famous painting in the Prado in Madrid. Picasso made several images of the full painting as well as individual sections, in a variety of different styles and colors. Overall it was really cool and interesting. For some of the pieces I'm not sure if I would have recognized what it was imitating - a true testament to how original Picasso's works are. The whole museum was really interesting but none of the pieces were as impressive as the Guernica at the Reina Sofia museum in Madrid.
After the museum we got some churros for lunch (I needed them once more before I left) then went to the bus station. I managed to push my way onto the next bus and fell asleep on the way to the airport. Dawn was on the bus too but we didn't find each other until we arrived at the airport.
The plane ride was fine. Dawn and I managed to keep the seat between us empty (the only one on the plane it seemed like). I got some great photos from the plane of the Pyrenees as we passed over them.
Again I had no problem at customs. We hit major traffic with the bus though. There was a stranded vehicle and they take that really seriously over here. So I didn't get back to London until 7:30. When I got back I bought some food, made dinner and unpacked then took a bath and cozied up into bed.
