To me, there is balance in everything that happens. Regardless of how good or bad we perceive something to be, there is always a flip side if we look hard enough. The same can be said for camp sites. Yesterday afternoon we found an amazing camp site beside the river, with incredible mountain cliffs on both sides. The sites were very private, with table and seats, a fire pit complete with wood and very cheap. And made putting up with the single drop toilet, no running water and mosquitoes a breeze.
This area is known for its violent skies and we were not disappointed. An early morning light show with booming thunder echoing through the canyon added to the uniqueness of the site. Thankfully, not much rain though.
After stopping in town for coffee, our morning was spent driving through Canyonland. Utah = rocks. Everywhere you look are rugged mountain ranges of exposed rock.
After several hours of driving around the top of the mountains looking down into the canyons, we descended deep into the floor of a major one.
After winding through the sheer cliff faces, we head out of the park and onto our next one. Arches NP has more than 92 stone arches, but given that at 4.30pm was still 106 degrees, we only went to a few.
Amanda's lovely chorizo and tomato pasta for tea, then off to see the sun set over the majestic rock mounds.
A beer at the Moab Brewery was a must on the way through town as we headed back to our campsite.
