Carlsbad is known for a huge cave structure, about 20k out of town. Today's agenda was all about exploring the caves. We arrived at the caves about 8am, and set about exploring the huge caverns below. Entry was via the mouth of the cave where we saw all the bats leave the night before. The whole cave structure is absolutely huge with hundreds of caves, a fraction of which are open to the public. The structures inside were awesome and incredibly beautiful and seemed never ending as we ventured down to 250m under the earth. Thankfully there was a lift to come back up!
By 5pm, we'd had enough caving. Next stop, and our bed for the night was White Sands Missile Range. But first we had to pick up a cargo top box from Las Cruses. This meant dipping down into Texas for a few hours, then back into NM.
