After an early lunch at Sadies Restaurant, we left Albuquerque and headed towards Carlsbad Caverns. Passed through Roswell, known for stories of UFO crash landings ( all false, I'm told) and on to Carlsbad, where we made it in time to see the spectacular exit of over 300,000 bats from the mouth of a cave. After setting up tents at White City camping ground, we headed back into Carlsbad, 20k away, for our first taste of American Pizza Hut.
Another post midnight bedtime trialling our tents awaited. A lovely warm night with no rain - ideal camping weather.
