Long time since my last blog entry!!! Still on the North trip, we travelled down to Ayutthaya (sp?!!?) this is where the bridge over the river Kwai is. We walked over the bridge, kinda scary as there is no railings, you slip you fall! I had no idea what the bridge over the river Kwai was, but after being tought about it rather interesting! So heres your history lesson for the day, though everyone probably knows already! During WW2 the Japanese captured english, american, australian, thais and dutch to construct a 415km long death railway to connect thailad with burma and the bridge over the river kwai. Approximately 30 000 POW's and 200 000 labourers from surrounding countries where forced to build the railway. 116 000 died over the 11 years of construction such harsh working conditions! We saw pictures and newspaper cuttings form the time. Thats my best efforts of history lesson! Next day we went to tiger temple. Its in a canyon thing, or like blasted area i suppose. Theres monks that have reared these tigers. We got to go and stroke the tigers and sit with them, with a trained person though all the time. There were baby tiger cubs aswell that romed around the park. They were so cute, and very playful. Thought they were going to claw my hand of though, but the monks look after them aswell! We climbed a load of waterfalls here too, seven levels were huge blumin massive hike aswell!! at the waterfalls there were pools were you could swim, however the mass of fish biting you as you got in put me off big time! skanky fish! The waterfalls were in a national park, they were really strict abou taking water bottles and rubbish up with you, they marked it, yu had to leave money and then when you returned if you sill had your bottle you get your money back! This day was none stop...same evening well dusk we went kyaking on the river kwai...was awesom! good time of day aswell! However a water spider thing landed on my leg...i still dont like spiders! i was soaked aswell somehow, probably the wettest ive been kyaking without falling in! not sure how! Headed back to bangkok, as the mid point of our trip. Most people left the group here rather than travelling on with the tour. Second time round in bangkok absolutely loved it! Must have walked around with my eyes shut first time i was here! We went out on the saturday night with everyone from out north tour, was sad to say bye to everyone though especially after a wicked time up north!
