A sleep in and a slow start to the day, including washing, we then took a walk along the foreshore of the resort, Pacific Shores.
It was low tide, we found kayaks for use, barbeques, and hot pools, we decided we'd try a barby tonight on a covered deck by the waterfront, so we took a drive to the closest townships for supplies.
Parksville first with its many resorts, then we drove onto Qualicum Beach, a quaint township with no franchise type shops because the locals won’t allow it. They even go so far as the grocery shop being very organic and fresh, so this is where we shopped. We bought 21 day matured Angus beef, beautiful meat for those that like a good steak.
Now autumn or they call it fall, the trees are changing colour, bright yellows, then golden yellows, to brown and reds, a sight to see especially when we came across a tree lined street.
On our way home we decided to take a stroll along the boardwalk of Qualicum Beach, a happening place in summer but very quiet in the fall and winter. Although noticeably the beaches here are nothing to ours, grey pebbly beach no sand, and logs placed everywhere for anyone that wishes to sit on the beach, there is no towel sitting here, it’s all on logs! Kayaking, Paddleboards, Stand Up Boards seem to be fashionable on the waters instead of swimming as noticeably there is locked up hire garages ready for opening in summer.
We often come across thoughtful things that Canadians do, on this boardwalk we come across little huts – like large letterboxes, by a park bench, that hold used books, you can read a used book/magazine and replace with another used book/magazine, the local library started this innovative idea – a great idea.
On our way back to Pacific Shores we come across two local deer, we kept seeing warning signs everywhere and were watching for them in case they did come by the road like our Aussie Kangaroos.
When we got back to the unit, we used the barby for our Angus, added a bit of blue cheese sauce from a local cheese supplier with a salad, it did start to rain nothing heavy we were uncover but it did make it a bit cooler – 13 degrees - only Aussie tourists would be dumb enough to have a Barby at this time of year, we were sure the locals would be inside having hot soups and roasts, sitting by a cosy fire.

Anony Mouse Sounds like a lovely slow day. The trees look as lovely as the post boxes. Strange and yet true.
C & J Very pretty.
Zali Zali is lying on the keyboard trying to write something, I think she likes the deer.
