Aaron and Beckys Surfari!
We have just returned from a weeks road trip in our van. Had a decent van with all the mod cons and cruised our way down the east coast looking for waves and good times!
We decided to head south and stopped at Byron Bay for a few days, soaking up the hippy vibe and the good waves at Tallows beach. Made a couple of trips to Lennox Head (no surfing) and Broken Head where we had really good waves. We cruised back up to the Gold Coast to see if Snapper Rocks or Burleigh was throwing out good waves, but we drew a bit of a blank, so after a surf at D-Bah, at which we saw a 4 ft shark so didnt stick around for long! I was trying to convince Becky to paddle the 500 meters to the offshore sand island of South Stradbroke, but due to the shark we saw, we decided to make a new plan.
As disorganised as usual, we took our time, but then decided to head south and see some more of the coast, so we headed down to Coffs Harbour, stopping at many a beach on the way to check the surf, didnt really find much apart from a couple of angry guard dogs. We stayed around Coffs for a few days and had surfs at Diggers beach and really good waves at the north end of Park Beach. Cakes and cups of tea were consumed post (and pre surfs) relaxing watching the sun setting. We saw loads of Dolphins and the water is still nice and warm so all good.
We even forked out the mass sum of 5 english pounds each to stay in a campsite so we could have a shower!!! Took 30 mins to srucb me clean!
At Coffs we also went to the Big Banana, which is a banana plantation which has csahed in on tourism! We went down the sledge run which was really good fun, really fast and long, and becky almost took out a couple of japanese as she whized down the run like eddie the eagle edwards!
On our way back up to Brisbane, we stoped at more spots to find empty good waves, We found empty, but not so good! Ended up going in at Red Rock, which didnt produce much apart from a killer shore break!
We also made a detour to the infamous Nimbin, which was caught in the biggest time warp. Bunch of hippies in this place. Thought that we were going to get attacked for not wearing tie die clothes and hemp shoes!
We also drove through the "enchanted Rainbow forest" Bunch of hippies! But did see a couple of wallabees!!!
Someone also said G'day to me the other day and then in the same day some one said "strooth", so im pretty happy!!
Flying to Indo this afternoon, so well looking forward to that. Back to Aus in a month to find jobs!
Hope all are well, sure we have some funny tails from indo soon!!!
