Set off on our last little organised tour in OZ from Sydney to Melbourne. Our first stop en-route was Canberra the capital. The war memorial was huge and full of info Keeley wanted to go to the kids play bit straight away. Unfortunately for Keeley the helicopter was full of kids and I declined to dress in period clothes so she could not really play. On to the Parliment building which is built inside a hill an amazing building and you can walk on top of parliment. When our guide was doing the tour we picked a couple of extras an old couple who were asking all the questions. She did answer the questions without telling them she was not there guide. The parliment was interesting, none of the politions were around on holiday just like back home. We spent the night in the Alpine region a place called Jindabyne so OZ does have snow and a ski season. Not in season at the moment and the sun was shining bright. The rooms were great overlooking the lake with the Snowy mountains behind.
We went up into the mountains in the morning did a short walk near Kosciuszko the highest mountain in Australia. Declined on doing a longer walk due to persistent flies. Back down by the lake they were more managable and a swim was very refreshing. Went out on a inflatable across the lake being pulled by a speed boat. With two other people we managed to fall off before the engine had started. By the end we did manage to get the hang of it and it was great fun. We stayed the night at Lakes Enterance in the middle of ninety mile beach. Had a double for the first time in over a week which was very welcome away from other peoples nightly noises.
The last day of the tour we went to Wilsons promontory a national park. Went down to a beach called squeaky beach and guess what the sand was squeaky! Played a bit of beach cricket when not playing in the sea. In the park we also saw some large grey kangaroos very cool loved watching them hop around. Seen Koalas, turtles, crocodiles, sharks and now Kangaroos all in the wild can leave now. The van wars (there were two vans doing the tour) escalated we had there cow and they stole our wombat. The two drivers ended up covered in water. There van was then covered in shaving foam before ours got egged very mature. Now in Melbourne for over two weeks be good to be in one place for a while.
