Left Byron and the rain behind arrived at surf camp to sunshine. A bit aprehensive about the surf lesson after nearly drowning on Rainbow beach. However the waves this time were tame compared did not drown at all and managed to ride a magority of the waves into the beach. Keeley spent a lot of time on hers knees on the board but did manage to stand on a least one occasion.
We arrived in Sydney next evening went to a pub where we were supposed to get free food and free drinks. We did get the free food but not all that good. The free drink involved a scrum to get to the bar for one beer and then joining the back of the scrum again. After two drinks down the throat and lots on the clothes decided enough was enough and called it a night.
First day in Sydney went to do what everyone does on there first day and saw the Opera house, Bridge and Harbour. All of which are impressive. The botanical gardens were also among the best we had been to.
Next day we left the city behing to go to the blue mountians the mist and rain welcomed us to the mountians. We did still go on our planned 4-5 hour walk and when the sun on breif occasions broke the gloom you could see what a beautiful place it was. My trainer was attacked by half a dozen leaches but managed with a combination of Keeley pulling them and spraying bushman to avoid a bite. Arrived back wet and cold but the sun was back in Sydney a quick shower and we were out. It was the first day of the Sydney festival and Brian Wilson was on a huge stage in the botanicla gardens free! We made it just in time the performance was very good we particularly enjoyed wouldn't it be nice the song Keeley almost danced to on our wedding day.
Once again we left the city behind to go out to Manly for a couple of days. The main beach was very crowded with surfers but swimming was banned due to currents. That night we went to meet Caragh who we last saw in Borneo went to her house near North point. The veiw from North point allowed you to take in the whole scope of Sydney Harbour. We went out for dinner and had a relaxing night in Manley. Next day we for a walk over the headland to a near deserted beach called Collins Beach where we spent most of the day.
Today we went to Bondi beach as we are leaving tomorrow and felt you had to see Bondi. It was overcast still hot I was not that impressed with the beach preffered the ones in Manley. As it was not exactly swimming weather walked over the cliff tops to Coogee a very nice walk. Tomorrow we leave for Melbourne for over two weeks be nice not to be packing all the time.
