Lance and I ventured to Lantau Island to see the enormous Buddha. The 112 ft. tall, 250 ton statue is in the midst of lush, rolling hills. We took a cable car to the island, riding over the sea and hills. I was hoping to spot a pink dolphin along the way, but they must have been busy swimming with the fishes. The Ten Thousand Buddhas Temple is a trail that has small buddha statues every 5 feet on each side. Each statue is different - some gold, some multi-colored, each with a different pose. Buddhists believe that their god is in many forms, so you are supposed to find the one that you connect with. Nearby, there were a series of mausoleums.
