The Ten Thousand Buddhas Temple is a trail that has small buddha statues every 5 feet on each side. Each statue is different - some gold, some multi-colored, each with a different pose. Buddhists believe that their god is in many forms, so you are supposed to find the one that you connect with.
Nearby, there were a series of mausoleums. People visiting the sites burn incense outside the rooms and bring gifts for the deceased, typically food. The door to the remains will be opened if someone has left gifts. There are photos of the deceased and letters from loved ones that wallpaper the inside of the door. Gifts are either left at the floor of the site or on a table. We thought it was odd that McDonald's food was often the offering. We assume that it is the deceased person's favorite food.
Many were burning paper as a gift for the deceased in the afterlife.
