We drove a few hours with the intention to overnight in Dundee, however when we arrived at the Kwa Rie campsite we were pleasantly surprised and made the decision to make it a 2 night stop to give us time to explore the Zulu battlefields the following day. The powerful Zulu tribe engaged in many battles in the area and in the dreary rain we visited the Anglo-Zulu battlesites of Rorke's Drift, Isandlwana and the Boer-Zulu battle of Blood river. It was interesting yet eary to stand on the sites of such bloodthirsty battles which eventually led to the demise of the once prosperous Zulu kingdom.
