DAY 72-81 9.4.2010-18.4.2010 Indonesia, Bali, Jimbaran & Legian
So we travelled to Bali, I think the first real tourist tourist beach place in our trip. Varkala(in India) was also a real
tourist destination, but still very small and quiet, nothing comparing to Bali! Bali is like a some Meditterian holiday
spot with all the shops, restaurants, expensive hotels, tourist attractions and day trips, watersports & beaches and bars!
The only thing is that here surfing is THE thing, everybody does it or even tries and everywhere you can see surf clothes
and all the traders are trying to sell you a billabong t-shirt. (Don't worry, we don't have any! ..yet)
The weather in Bali is not like everyone thinks.. This time of year it's very hot, but the sun always shines behind of the
clouds (and that's a good thing, whuh!) and it's raining (it's the rain season now) quite a lot althoug it never lasts long
time (except yesterday night, when Heikki couldn't even across the street to his hostel without getting all wet 'cause
raining) So hot but wetty, we don't complain! Still warmer than in Finland;)
We spend the first three days in Jimbaran, a quiet place in southern Bali. We had a really nice hotel with swimming pool in
the garden, every morning fresh, home-made breakfast, great and roomy air conditioned room with biiiig bed and friendly
hotel staff :) Jimbaran is more place for familys and for older people than for young people. (although there is a
Norwegian college and 350 young Norwegian students:D) There is not so many budget accomandation and near the beach all the
hotels are four or five star hotels, but luckily we found a reasonable price place for us.
Boys rented scooters (so cheap in here! only 4€/day + petrol 1 litre 0,5€) on our second day and went to see Bali, or at
least the southern part (The part where almoust all the tourist are). They found couple of Mc Donalds, nice beaches, shops
and views and great bars with cheap beer;)
On the next day, still with the scooters we went to see Dreamland beach (turqoise water, big waves, white sand and hothot
sun) and after that we headed to Kuta, Legian and Seminyak (the big tourist places) to find a cheap accomendation near the
beach, so boys can surf and Jenni can enjoy the sun. We found a place held by one old, cute couple with not so good
english:) and for a very cheap price, for three people total 9€/night! The room had everything we needed, bed, bathroom
(with refreshing cold shower:D), air condition machine and wuhuuu tv with a global channel, I say luxus!
So we moved to Legian, to Darmaga Beach Inn for our last week together. On Sunday Kari and Jenni headed off to north and
Heikki is staying in Legian for his last days before coming back to home. (oh, home sweet home<3) (yep, If Iceland let me
come...) In Legian the days have been surfing, sun bathing(with NO bigbig resolts), some shopping, a veeeery goooood
eating, scootering around and just relaxing, so proper holiday, aaah! Boys went to check some bars (or maybe just check the
too good to be true beer offer in Legian 61?) one evening and had a great time with one englishman and couple german.
Heikki also did some poolmatches, but the results you can ask from him.. ;) (H: I won one game!)
17th (saturday night) we all spent in that same place because of our last day together. We met many other Finns there and
had good time. But we got back hostel very early and safetly so don't care! Now Jenni and Kari are in somewhere North and Heikki is in here, Legian, alone, thinking that "can or cannot I fly back home when I used to..."
