DAY 65-72 02.04.-09.04.2010 Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Sepang, F1 Grand Prix!)
Formula 1 Grand Prix was the reason we changed our flight tickets from 4th of April to 2nd! We arrived to Malaysia at noon and there was our Malaysian friend, Jee Hong Sien (Jee Sien's, the girl who was in Finland for a lion exchange, little brother) waiting for us. Jee Hong showed a little bits of KL (Kuala lumpur) for us, we had a good dinner (Hong Kong cuisine) and then he took us to our hostel in China Town (part of Kuala Lumpur, where is cheap food, cheap accommodation and the most popular and cheap night market, where you can buy everything! Maybe Heikki can tell more about this? ;D). Our hostel, Red Dragon, was everything we needed: Private room with great beds and A/C (you have to have it in KL!) so there was nothing extra but still everything.
We went to Sepang on Saturday to see the qualification, there was some rain that mixed up with the situations, but after all we were quite proud of Heikki's and Nico's performances.
On Sunday the atmosphere was totally different in Sepang circuit! It was time for the race to begin. There were a lot of people wearing fan t-shirts, caps, flags and even some peruukkeja! Heikki and Jee Hong also bought their owns, Heikki Kovalainen fan t-shirts! (maybe you will see the picture) Despite of our (and many other finnish) loud cheering Heikki didn't even finish the race but Nico did a good job of beeing in the third place! The race was really something you have to try at least once in your life, so you will know what is it, but we have to admit that the following is much more easier from tv! The fiiling is good and people are so exited about the race. In the circuit area there was approximately 100 000 people, but still some gyus from our hometown found us! The world is really small..
The last days in KL we went to shopping malls, went to see some movies (How to train a dragon? was really good, so cute and still funny!) and we also had dinner with Jee Hongs' brother and dad and it was soooooooo good! "best barbeque pork ever!"
KL is almoust like any other city in Europe. It's very clean, the traffic is okay, it's quite safe, there is a lot of good schools, a lot of shopping malls (around KL more than 10 big ones), good public transport (sky train, subway, bus, taxi) and too many Mc Donalds;)
We had a great time in KL with Jee Hong (thanks to him, one more time!) and we really liked the city. (A big jump in development after India) We made some good shopping and eat too much too good food ;)
