After a painful divorce with Heikki we (Jenni and Kari) rented a scooter and headed to other parts of Bali. First we drove thru the mountains up to the north, to Lovina beach. Because it had been soooooo hot in Legian we didn´t realize that it was going to be cold, windy andrainy up in the mountains! (no any longsleeves with us, ups!) Bali is not cold.. or that was what we thought.. Our only lifesaver was our raincoats, for Jenni the pink one and for Kari the blue one, I´m sure we looked sooo cute! ;)
We drove a lot of kilometres, a lot of kilometres in a freezing rain and then we met on the road a man who knew a good homestay for us in Lovina beach. Wet and tired we happily accept the offer. It turn out to be a good choice! It was a lovely and quiet place near the beach and we even booked a dolphin tour from the nice owner for the next morning:)
Early in the morning (I really mean early, at 6am!) we headed to see the dolphins with an indonesian-swedish couple (so nice and friendly guys). After a morning balinese coffee (Karis favourite!) we took a boat to the dolphin place. We saw a lot of dolphins and they were soooo cute! And we are pretty sure that our boat was their favourite:) (out of 30 boat? crazy! Almoust as in a safari in Africa..) After dolphins we went to snorkling and saw fishes who ate banana, I still can´t believe it! Banana eating fishes, never heard? :D
After 2 nights of homestay we decided to take a room from villa jaya hotel (also a homestay). We enjoyed the pool and sun (only sometimes) and daytimes we went to see the waterfalls (the water was freezing and still we have a picture of Kari "swimming" in there, hyrrr!) and also the hotspings, aaaah, that was nice! No salty water and still warm and maybe even too hot sometimes?
In our hotel we had a danish couple as our neighbours and we spend so time with them, for example "enjoying" the local spirit with them.. We had a fantastic evening so thanks for that to Mie and Morten! (Someday we will visit your home in Denmark, be aware of that! ;D and you´re always welcome to Finland of course!)
After relaxing in Lovina we went to Lake Batur (It´s a crater lake between two (volcano)mountains). We only spend there one night but Kari still was able to conquer one of the highest mountains! (over 1 kilometres high) Normally people hire guides with them to climb there, but not Kari, he is our super man!
Next destination was Ubud, a craft and woodwork town near to Denpasar (the capital of Bali). We found a nice and a real homestay place and we had the best dinner for a while! The restaurant was so nicely decorated (with art works) and the food was delicious!
We also tried white water rafting in Ubud and it was so much fun! We were the last boat to departure (out of 15 boats?) but we werer the first ones in the finnish line, pretty impressive? ;)
Our last day in Bali was quite.. interesting! We were enjoying our dinner in BGarden when Kari suddenly realized that our monday flight was going to be on sunday-monday night, SOOOO we had 2 hours to go to the flight to Australia! The flight time was 00:30 so that´s why we mixed up the dates, it was the monday, but only 30 minutes after sunday.. We hurried back to our hotel and started to pack like crazies! We still had our rented scooter and almoust all of our clothes were in the laundry place and the time was already 11pm! (everything is already closed) Luckily one man from the same hotel promised to help us, he would return the scooter and pick up the laundry. Our guardian angel! huh.. We crabbed a taxi and hurried to the airport. We got there in time, tired but happy :D
