If I had to sum up Nepal in just one word it would have to be breathtaking. From the polluted and dust choked city of Kathmandu to the spectacular Himalayan mountain side of Annapurna; Nepal takes your breath away in every sense of the word.
It is difficult to describe the peace that you feel when you finally disconnect from everything (and everyone) for a few days and truly immerse yourself in such a majestic setting. The past becomes just that, the past and the future is something for another day. All that is important at that point in time is right there with you. It took me 5 whole days technology free and mainly alone to finally reach a point that I missed interactions with others and to seek it out. By day 8 I was lent a copy of a book called "the power of now" and realised that what this book was teaching was exactly what I had found in the mountains, the only thing you can truly influence, and that ultimately matters is this moment. That is hopefully a lesson I will take back with me after travelling as it's much easier to practise while travelling without impending meetings and deals and the reality of life.
After the smog enveloping the city and the fog hiding the mountains for numerous days, Annapurna put on a show when we made it to base camp. The mountains coming out gloriously from behind the fog to catch the sun on 360 degrees of snow covered peaks. The photos don't do the area justice but hopefully give enough of a sneak peak to portray the beauty or make you want to seek it out yourselves.
