A much shorter blog this time I promise. Not all that much to say about the last 12 hours, other than the fact I survived our local flight from Arequipa to Cuzco. We had to get up at 4.30am for it, hence my sleep deprivation, and the plane went via some other town near Lake Titicaca, so it was two half hour flights. We left at 6.25am and arrived at 8.10am. We flew with LAN, who I´m flying to New Zealand with, and the plane was really smart. I was picturing a crappy propeller job! Anyway no more flights now for exactly 2 months.
We had a well earned big breakfast at a western style cafe before taking an orientation walk around Cuzco. Its a very touristic city, being the main base for people who visit Machu Picchu, but thats not such a bad thing. I need to do a bit of shopping tomorrow and there´s loads of choice, and the city feels very safe. Its built in a valley at an altitude of 3400m, and our hotel has beautiful views over the city. The square was really nice too, and its probably made the best impression on me of any place so far. Tomorrow we´ve got a free day so I can get a lie in, woop! Friday we set off to the Inca trail start and the following 4 days are spent on the trail itself. I cannot wait. I just hope the weather stays fine. I´ll update after the trail as we´ve got some time again in Cuzco to recover after the hike. Buenos Tardes.
