Raj: Another fun couple of days, this time at Disneyland. We spent a day at Disneyland Park (the "original" Disney) and Disney California Adventure Park (more and bigger). While very pricey, it doesn't stop the 10's of thousands who visit both parks every day of the year. And you can see why. Everything is extremely well set up, organised and presented in a way which captures the interest and imagination of both young and old. The American's really get into it, buying up all the branded goods and dressing up in their favourite disney characters. Being close to Halloween there were other themed events with many people in amazing costumes and makeup. So plenty to see as you swopped around people or waited in queues. It was busier than I thought (our longest wait was 80 minutes for the Radiator Springs Racers, not helped by a mechanical failure). I wouldn't want to be here in the peak season, still there were many American school kids - not at school!
My favourite ride was California Scream'in (see the video) which Harley and I did 11 times. It was a high speed roller coaster complete with drops and a loop. So much fun! There were other roller coaster rides like Space Mountain (in the dark) which were also fantastic. I also enjoyed the many other 3D and 4D rides, simulators, and some water adventures (log riding and rafting, and yes you do get wet!). It's definitely something everyone should experience once in their lifetime given the opportunity.
Vikki: Our time at Anaheim has been packed full of fun and adventure. Who says Disneyland is just for kids? I have to point out though that this place has the most toddlers, buggies and pregnant women all in one area - every which way you turn.
Not being one for the fast super thrill rides, Anouk and I happily spent our days doing the not so adrenalin rushed rides, still lots of fun at a more sedate level. Spinning rides, swings, ferris wheels, bumper cars, 4D movies and underwater adventures were just our cup of tea. The queues were manageable but I'd hate to be here went it's really busy.
We've also checked out a couple of the outlet malls. So many shops to look at but we've looked more than purchased. Haven't found too many outstanding deals yet (not like the 4 pairs of shoes in Santa Monica). Still we have Las Vegas to go and our night flight in tonight should hopefully let us see part of the town all sparkly and lit up.
Harley: Over the time that we have been in Anaheim we have visited Disneyland. First we went to Disneyland Park. Even though it was a Monday it was still jam packed with people. The top three rides that I did were Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters and Indiana Jones Adventure. Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy was a small thrill ride in a completely dark building doing high speed sharp turns. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters was a laser shooting game where you had to shoot targets. I got 46,000 but my mum (the winner) got 107,200. Indiana Jones was a long wait in queue but was a really good ride. You go through dark underground caves with deadly traps.
The next day we did Disney California Adventure Park. When the gates opened me and dad rushed to California Scream'in which is the biggest roller coster in Disneyland. It has a top speed of 88kph with big fast turns and a loop!!!!! We went on it 10 times in a row (and an 11th time at the end of the day) because it was sooooo good. IT WAS THE BEST ROLLER COSTER EVER !!!!!!!!! Next we did Radiator Springs Racers. You went in a car from the Cars movie and got driven around in it, and at the end we got to race against another car and we won. Then we went to the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. It was a super scary elevator ride that dropped at any time. To finish off the day we went to the Grizzly River Run. There were 8 people in a rubber raft going down a river with drops, waterfalls and rapids.
DISNEYLAND WAS GREAT FUN !!!!!!!!
Anouk: Two days ago we went to Disneyland and had an EPIC day. The first thing that we did was go on Astro Blast which was a game where you had to shoot the targets and score points. My high score was 7,000 which is actually bad because my mum's high score was 107,200!!! The scariest ride was the Matterhorn Bobsled because it went up then down then fast and through water. I really hated it so I screamed the whole way. My favourite ride was the Finding Nemo ride because we got to go in a submarine and see starfish, coral, and some clips of the movie Finding Nemo.
Yesterday we went back to Disneyland but this time we went to the other side, Disneyland California Adventure. We went on bumper cars first which were fun but I really need to get better at steering. We watched a 4D movie called "It's Tough to be a Bug". It was so freaky because the little bugs fired acorns and sparks at you and a butterfly flew right toward us. At the end of the movie when we were about to stand up and leave, we all felt a bug crawl under us so I jumped up and said "WHAT WAS THAT" in a big fright!!! My two favourite rides were Tow Mater and The Silly Symphony Swings. At Tow Mater we got in a carriage and then we got swished and spun around so fast it was so much fun. On the Silly Symphony Swings we got buckled up in a seat and then the swings lifted us up higher and then it spun us around so fast. I really liked everything that we did and it was another EPIC DAY!!!
