Hi. Finally we left the Biscay coast and headed inland toward Bordeaux and the Dordogne. The sun was shining with blue sky’s so the trip was enjoyable. Past a very busy Bordeaux which has a great ring road we were on our way to Bergerac using only small A roads. We drove past acres and acres of vineyards with incredible looking chateaus hidden in the woods and behind huge walls and gates. This is wine producing country and it’s for sale everywhere you look. A paradise for The discerning wine drinker!! We stopped for lunch on the banks of the Dordogne river and fed bread to the fish that were huge!! We booked another gite for the night and as access was at 1700 hours we decided to do some fishing in the local river. Pleasant though it was, we had more interest in the wildlife than the fish had to our bait!! Eventually we got to our gite and to say it is homely it’s an understatement. This place is amazing for only 90 euros a night. A whole house with two bedrooms and breakfast all laid on, swimming pool and jacuzzi and beautiful gardens and views over the hills to die for. The owner popped in for a chat and seemed very pleasant. This place has a DVD player so it’s a One flew over the cuckoos nest night in. !!!!
