The 4am alarm came around far too quickly this morning! We had to have our pictures taken for the temple passes - those pictures were not exactly stunning as we all struggled with a severe lack of sleep. We got to Angkor Wat to watch the sunrise, but even at 5am it was so hot already - that combined with the ants was a bit distracting as we all aimed for the best photos. One more temple after there, before the four faces temple, and finally breakfast at what felt like noon, but was actually 8.30am!
Toast was choice for today with some lime juice, then more temples, and lunch at 2pm. The day was dragging so much, not great for hangovers.
On the way to the last temple, after Khmer curry in a coconut, we stopped to see sugar cane being made on the roadside. A few of us bought some for $1 before heading to the last temple for sunset. After an immense amount of steep steps we all waited with baited breath for the sunset, only to see the clouds descend over it. An even steeper walk down the steps took us back to the waiting street sellers and home for 6pm. Finally!
Rather than relax we headed out for food, but for some reason we opted for KFC, my first ever, which wasn't too Cambodian, even though it had a pineapple in it. Anjali and I headed over to the night market again, this time stopping off at the fish bar - not to eat, but to let the fish nibble at the dead skin on your feet! Gross. After days of blisters and rubbed feet this was a little painful, and I'm pretty sure a few of those fish wanted to taste blood! We had a beer with it too though, all for $2, so couldn't complain too much, although the many people behind us getting full-on massages were a little too close for comfort.
Still in the night market we headed to a salon to get manicures, but the standard was exactly up to scratch: not according to the manicurist though, as she said 'you pay out there, but you tip in here'. No, love.
A quick mojito with a few of the lads, and an attempt to get away with it for free because of the bar staff's inattention, then home finally for sweet, sweet sleep!
