Too Cold For Penguins
Hey Everyone!
Well we're in Cairns now and unfortunately we have to give our groovy campervan up tomorrow, it's been a really fun journey up the east coast.
We went to a koala sanctuary in Brisbane last week and really enjoyed it, feeding the kangaroos and I cuddled a koala - they're so cute but really smelly! We saw some crocs and a tasmanian devil - surprisingly cute.
From Brisbane we continued up the east coast, stopping off at some beautiful beach campsites overnight. We stopped at Airlie Beach near the Whitsundays for a few nights. As our treat we used our Christmas money to take a bubble helicopter flight over the Whitsunday Islands to a deserted beach. There we had a gourmet picnic, Ben proposed, we had some champagne, then a walk on the beach, by the way I said "yes"! The helicopter came to collect us and we had an overhead tour of some of the islands before we flew back to Airlie. It was a fantastic time and the views were amazing.
We've had a brilliant time with the van although we've done a lot of driving (over 3000 miles) and it is definitely one of our trip highlights so far.
We now have a week in Cairns, then we fly to Ayers Rock and then Perth, leaving for Singapore early February.
Thanks for all your e-mails and messages and we promise to respond later this week when we have more time.
Lots of love,
Kylie and Jason xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
