Too Cold For Penguins
Hi Everyone!
Would you believe that internet access is far more abundant in Peru than it is in New Zealand? The last few days have been pretty eventful. We travelled down the coast from Oamaru to Dunedin, stopping at Shag Point along the way where we saw seals and seal pups. We were snowed in over the weekend, all the roads out of Dunedin were closed off so we couldn't travel. We managed to take the car through Dunedin onto the Otago Peninsular though which was stunning.
Yesterday we finally escaped and travelled down to Invercargill, a measly 400Km. We took the Southern Scenic Route which was... derr... scenic. Nugget Point was fantastic. The rocks are shaped like gold nuggets, hence the name, and are covered in seals and sealions playing and sleeping. It's a beautiful coastline. Very cold too! We also stopped at Purakaunui Falls. Very pretty, especially in the snow.
We are staying in Invercargill for a couple of nights and then heading up to Te Anau to the fjords and then onto Queenstown and Wanaka.
Hope you are all still enjoying the summer. What's all this about Monsoons? Are Gareth and Sarah at the karaoke again?
Hels and Ben xx
