Too Cold For Penguins
Hello Again!
Just finished a couple of days in San Pedro de Atacama. Its desert here, so its very very hot in the day but freezing at night. San Pedro is a really nice little town, but in the middle of nowhere and they charge more for everything.... because they can. We found a slight flaw in their plan though, because theres no ATM... doh!
Its very busy at the moment because its a national school holiday in Chile. The town is full of hip young things and we are feeling old! We have made the most of the two days we could afford to stay and hired a couple of mountain bikes to visit Quebrada Del Diablo - See pics (when we have chance to upload them). Also went out into the desert to a mini observatory (someones house we think) for an astronomy lesson and to look at the stars, which was excellent (but cold because it finished at midnight).
San Pedro has a great atmosphere in the evenings, and there are lots of cosy but funky little restaurants, we felt obliged to sample a few. Had a great time. Moving on to La Serena this evening. Hope you are all well!
Love Helen and Ben xxx
