Well, never thought the time would come, but now that it's nearly here things have started to happen real quick. Following the last post the rush has been on to tie up the last of the small jobs on the truck. Fitting our shower (or our excuse for one), removing one of the spare wheels and bracing of the other due to concerns about the long term durability of the mounting. It has taken nearly twelve months to get to this stage but we were finally in a position to give the camper a try out. We drove down to Lorne to visit Gaels folks and got rained on heavily on the way. As well as giving the truck a wash it also highlighted my faulty workmanship re window installation. I wet my bed!! That is to say water got in around the window gasket in large quantities and also washed my mattress. A tube of silastic later and the problem appears...

The camper photos attached show progress up to as of now. There are still a few more things to do but basically all the hard work is done. The whole process as documented has taken 12 months less 6 weeks spent in New Zealand in March 2009. That equates to one person full time on the job. After retiring in 2005 from working in the education and training sectors we got to work on building a home on our 34 acre property in lovely Clydesdale deep in the gold fields country of central Victoria, Australia.
