The camper photos attached show progress up to as of now. There are still a few more things to do but basically all the hard work is done.
The whole process as documented has taken 12 months less 6 weeks spent in New Zealand in March 2009. That equates to one person full time on the job.
There was a lot of learning and trial and error that slowed the build down as I had no prior experience working with these fiberglass composite materials. Having said that, I still believe that the choice of material was the right one. I have yet to weigh the RV but the weight saving will be substantial. The old rig with the slide on steel framed camper weighed in at 3350kg. With the GVM of the Land Rover being 3500kg it was touch and go and just legal.
We sold our house here at Clydesdale two weeks ago so the count down is on. When we get back we will make a decision then about the direction our lives will take.
We hope to be in a position within the next few weeks to take the rig on its first outing. Schools go back next week here , so good places to camp will be on offer. We may head down to Wilsons Promontory at the Southern tip of Australia.
I will add a few more photos when I get the opportunity to finish up on the build side of things.
