Well after we picked up the truck we caught the ferry over to Vancouver Island. First up we visited the stunning Butchart Gardens and spent our first night on the road at an RV Park south of Sidney. All the rigs around us were huge, we felt like a thorn amongst giant roses.
We then spent the next four days zig zaging across the island, camping in densely forested parks that all had bear proof garbage bins and signs warning of wolf, puma and bears. But we didn't see any! We think they're having us on.
A friend of a friend, Jim Gant showed us around Campbell River in his Mustang and took us to the famous Dick's Fish and Chips for lunch at the Marina. Had a great day, thanks Jim. Then it started to rain, and rain, and rain. We even traveled fifty klm's out of town to camp in the rain.
Now in Port Hardy we find we are two days early for our Ferry to Alaska so will have some time to kill. Hopefully we will see a bear. They said there was one here yesterday!!!!!
