No pics this time as the dog sled left early with the mail.
Last two days approx mid 20's. Previous week cloudy, wet, ******* rain and cold. More of same expected. (of the latter)
Spent recent times (four days) traveling the inside passage from Port Hardy (have you all got your school Atlas's out?), Vancouver Is, to Haines, Alaska via Princes Rupert.
Port Hardy to Prince Rupert nice, but too many fir tree covered mountains. Second leg to Haines pretty spectacular. More like our expectations.
So, when you come just do the last leg.
Last night camped by visually appealing (nice) glacial lake. It had a salmon stream (no salmon and no salmon equals no feeding bears). Gael did nearly wet herself four days earlier with her first sighting of a terrified, and rapidly retreating, small black bear grazing at the side of the road.
Plenty of screeching Bald Eagles woke us early when camped. Stunning birds!
A flight this afternoon will take us over the local glaciers around Glacier Bay, then a few more days in the Haines area, a beer or two at this weekends beer festival, some walks (have to buy a hooter and pepper spray for the bloody bears) and then of to the town of Skagway.
