Huw's Bit
Train from Venice to Trieste no dramas - then the fun started! I've been researching this part of the trip for 8 months and in the end trusted in booking a seat on a coach fron Trieste to Rijeka. No flights, train have to via Zagreb (!) and Chrsitine gets sea sick just by looking at a glass of water so ferries not an option.
Arrived at the coach station in Trieste and...there was nobody there...at all! Gulp! After a bit of wandering about found a sign on a window that I convinced myself meant open at 16.30! Chrissie and I went for a walk, grabbed a bite to eat and returned at 16.00!
There were now people there but they all wanted to ask me what was going on! Bizarre! Bloke from Cardiff (orignial 'my cat's blcaker than yours'), lady from Brazil, lady from Seattle and a girl from Melbourne! The original odd bunch! Anyway ticket office opened at 16.30 (so there everybody!), our tickets were reserved and there were no dramas - I really should have more faith!
Coach ride into Croatia was excellent, crossed from Italy into Slovenia then Slovenia into Croatia without incident! I still haven't forgiven Russia! To top it all we arrived an hour earlier than advertised into Rijeka. Hotel in Rikeka was excellent - absoutely stunning view over the Adriatic from one side of the hotel which sat on the waterfront, litererally - out the back and plop you were in!
Much relief at the fact we arrived with no dramas whatsoever! Things looking up and can't wait for 8 nights in Croatia!
