Jon loved it here! This is the island he could see himself living on!!! Lovely atmosphere, lush rainforest, towering mountains, quaint towns, pretty beaches - I see what he likes, but I´m still not convinced! But it was lots of fun trying to remember my Leaving Cert. French! Being a geography geek, I had to get to St Pierre to see a town destroyed by an eruption. It had been rumbling for weeks but the government didn´t want to evacuate because the election day...

We paid a nice taxi man to take us to Harrisons caves in the centre of the island and then to a nice beach. The caves were fantastic. Barbados has a Brighton Beach AND it´s sandy - a proper beach, eh, Jon!!!

What an amazing place and an eventful day! Lush is the word for St.Lucia - tropical rainforests, towering mountains, beautiful beaches... gorgeous views everywhere! We got to see so many amazing things thanks to Natasha, my old friend from my Cambodian/Laos travels, and Pierre being such great tour guides! My favourite spots - Marigot Bay, under the counter rum stops!, The Pitons, Sulphur Springs and volcano... but number one has to be chilling at Ladera, sippin...

St Maartin is a tiny island! We rented an old-school Wrangler Jeep to explore(which made Jon very happy!) Half of the island is Dutch and half is French! It has two different accents, two currencies and different architecture styles! I heard that a Dutch and a French explorer walked off in opposite directions around the island and where they met again was where they drew the border! I like that story - much more peaceful than the history of other colonial islands...

Being excitied tourists on our first night out in Miami, we ordered a huge sefood platter to celebrate. It contained an unusual fish called´mahi mahi´ that we were curious to taste. The next day, while reading a Miami magazine, I discovered ´mahi mahi´ is the local name for dolphin! Jon and I were not impressed! Now we know what dolphin tastes like! How upsetting! Being a vegetarian sounds good right now! The Art Deco area was my number one place to explore....
