The countryside here is full of lovely dutch colonial architechure and lots of pastel colours. Homes have stone walls lined with cacti all around them. The locals told us the cacti fences were to keep the theives out and the husbands in!! Lila found her geography hit today at the Casibori rock formation. this formation isi apparently a complete mystery. Bizarrely, nobody knows how the rocks came to be there! This is supposed to be the busiest port in the World...! Thankfully we were the only shiop in today so it was nice and quiet. A very pretty town and by far the richest town we´ve seen - lots of diamond shops and all designer labels everywhere. We spent most of the day exploring beaches and mountains. Was so excited about coming here! Had read up on lots of hikes.. the Boiling Lake, the Emerald Pool... had great plans! Woke up to torrential rains; you couldn´t see out the window! Gutted! Time to make new plans! Leisurely, spent some time exploring Roseau. A buzzing, noisy town, music blaring everywhere and really frienldy people. A gorgeous unspolit island and so quiet! Spent two days relaxing here. Walking along the beach, swimming, reading, eating...great lazy beach days!

We caught a open air bus straight from the port which whisked us around the island to view the hotspots and then to the beach. We saw gorgeous scenery and learnt all about the history of the area. Tortola has powdery white sandy beaches, lush mountains and friendly locals. Our bus driver was a true reggae rasta man!!
