Imagine you were giving the opportunity to move to Prague and had to, at a moments notice, had to find a place to live, open a bank account, obtain a loan and start a business to support yourself, and find ways to invest your money. That is the puzzle that the 2019 Cohort had to solve during their Culture Immersion Exercise.
The Cohort visited the offices of International Study Programs (the architects of this international tour) to participate in a practical exercise. Split up into four teams of four, each team was given a "problem" to solve as it relates to relocating to Prague. Each "problem" required looking up information online then going out (using the local public transportation system) and meeting local professionals in the field (i.e. going to a bank to ask for a loan or going to talk to a Real Estate Agent about a home for sale).
Once all information was obtained, each team had to put together a simple presentation, using flip boards as visuals, to present their results to the rest of the class back in the ISP offices.
Most of the research went off without a hitch. One group made a mistake by getting on the wrong tram, but it worked out because they ended up obtaining better field information from the "mistaken destination" than they would have gotten from where they actually intended to go.
All in all, it was a very interesting and fun exercise.
