Well this will possibly be our last blog… We are into our last day of our cruise having seen some wonderful places in Alaska. We understand a little more about the harsh environment that many would endure throughout the year. The weather has been excellent for us, cold at times, but little rain which has stunned the locals. For instance Juneau has about 200 days a year of rain and yesterday at Ketchikan it was raining horizontally and lots but not for us!
As for wild life I would have liked to see more bears but I did see some today although at some distance. Kate and Paul went in a different direction and came virtually face to face with one!!! Oh well I did have the opportunity to be up close and personal on the East Coast of Canada.
I loved seeing the sled dogs and Musher Camp. Although we didn't travel on snow it was an exhilarating experience - the dogs just loved to run. Then in Skagway we went on the White Pass scenic Railroad which had magnificent scenery and we were left wondering how they built the railroad in the first place. Then the GLACIER…The Margerie Glacier was truly amazing with the ship hovering for an hour or so just in case we saw ice shear from the edge and crash into the ocean. Paul and I did witness a fall not as huge as some but big enough to make a roaring sound. Tomorrow we pack to leave the ship and start our journey home. It is amazing to think we have been away for nearly 6 weeks, but we have experienced so much that our memories will linger for much longer.
MMMM…just felt the ship rock a little and remembered the captain announced we may have a rocky night.
