It is mental that you can fly for nearly 5 hours and still be in the same country!
There is literally nothing. You take off in Melbourne then see nothing but outback- bush, rocks, rivers and sand.
And I'm not sure, but at one point i think I also saw Rolfe Harris. Couldn't be sure, we were a long way up.
Perth started with our croydon mate who we spent Xmas with in Melbourne, picking us up and dropping us off at another croydon mate we spent Xmas with in Melbourne.
We acclimatised to the much hotter weather while staying with our friend for a few days.
Perth was mentally hot. Perth was also mentally expensive. We would need to make a plan ASAP. But not before Future Music Festival!!!
The day was awesome, the music was thumping, the sun was scorching and the Ozzies annoying. We drank and partied hard and didn't do much sleeping for 3 days!
What goes up must come down...
There was no better place to chill out for a while than Margaret River.
We took a bus about 5 hours south of Perth to stay with the Kiwi girl we met in the Gili Islands.
It is beautiful down there, wineries, cideries, breweries and beaches that competed with Asia.
The way of life is laid back and the sense of community was like something out of Home and Away. Alf Stewart wasn't around, but they did have the 'Bayside Store,' where we often picked up a few tinnies and watched the sun set over the Indian Ocean.
Somewhere around this point, we decided that we didn't want to go back to the whole 9-5 mon to fri routine and not seeing each other thing.
We had worked too hard in preparation for the trip to spend a quarter of it working.
But that would mean having to leave Oz, as even a single can of Fanta costs around 3 dollars (£2).
We decided to head to India, invest in flights but then save day to day on living! And what an adventure it would be!!!!
Almost as much of an adventure as getting a bloody visa would turn out to be.
Cutting a very long story short, it has taken us over 2 weeks, 15 pages of applications and about 600 dollars, including 2 date changes for our departing flight, and finally our visas arrived yesterday....
To keep us sane during this period, we had more mates fly out from Croydonia for a 2 week holiday in Perth.
Many fun times occurred, including watching them jump out of an aeroplane, paddy's day on the beach and an all day drinking session in freemantle. It was great to see them and it defo made us miss a few people from home.....
Still, we will get over it.
After all, we are going to India tomorrow.
Perth is probably my favourite City in Australia. Not that that says a huge amount, but it definitely has a much more genuine feel to it than the rest of the cities we have visited.
We have had a challenging but still positive and very boozey experience of Australia and have experienced kindness from lots of people.
We are currently 'couch surfing' at Adrian and Janets house, a Mexican couple who have been looking after us for the past few days. They have been so kind to us and allowed us to experience true Mexican 'pigeons.'
A drink made with tequila, lemon and lime juice, salt and Tabasco sauce!!!
Tastes much better than it sounds!
We have listened to central American music, shared stories of both our cultures and used google maps to see where we all live. It has been a great experience and we will return the favour if they ever come to the UK!
That being said we hope to use India to pay forward the good deeds and detox from the booze.
Australia is a great place if you are here to work and earn a lot of money.
But there is definitely a good reason why they pay people so much to live here....
India is the next step....
Here's to s***ting ourselfs to death!!
Peace and Imodium

Val I hope you have now arrived safely and have already cut down on the ambitious travel plan! Either that or you will still be travelling around India this time next year. It sounds as if you have had mixed fortunes, but this is all part of the rich tapestry and will add to the tales around the wood burner in the winter when we share the stories of 'the adventures of the intrepid explorers'. Dust off those itchy feet and head for the airport. Lovely to see and speak to you guys! May catch you tomorrow. Which goes to show the world is a small place - I wouldn't want to hoover it though! Hold on tight the next ride could get a bit bumpy:) Love you loads xxx
Socrates Greek Rich tapestry brother and sister. You now know not to go back to Oz again. BUT Hopefully you'll be looking back at India in years to come wanting to go back.
