We are spending the night in Campeche, as a way of breaking up the bus journey from Palenque to Merida. It is also a very pretty town, with many painted buildings lining narrow streets, and a broad avenue along the seafront. We have had a very hot and sticky day exploring the Mayan ruins in the jungle at Palenque. It was worth it, though. The ruins are well preserved, and the site is large but compact. We have been in San Cristobal for a couple of days now. We came here on the overnight bus from Oaxaca, which was OK but not particularly restful. We spent our first day here recovering. Hello, We have been in Oaxaca for 2 days now. We travelled from Mexico City on a small tour which took in Puebla and a cactus forest on the way. We are coming to the end of our time in Mexico City; tomorrow we head off to Oaxaca, further south.
