We are spending the night in Campeche, as a way of breaking up the bus journey from Palenque to Merida. It is also a very pretty town, with many painted buildings lining narrow streets, and a broad avenue along the seafront. It also has a couple of bits of city wall remaining, each with a small attached fortress.
