Zak and Mel's Excellent Adventure
Hi everyone! Sorry its been a while since we put another update on the site! We\'ve come away very prepared (not!). Mobile phone with no charger (and no reception) and two cameras with no chargers!! Nice one! And we\'ve also been staying in a National Park for the past 2 nights (we have one more to go) where obviously there is no internet. I can\'t believe I have found a place this morning on the walk!!! Anyway Zak is having a beer at the mo while I update the site. So here goes...since we left Westport which is an odd place! we drove along the Buller river hoping to stay at a place called Lake Rotoroa. Not possible though as Zak\'s has some new best mates - called the sand flies! They love him! Funny that he now has some more sympathy for me when I had 40 of the mossie bites in Hawaii! A little belated but good all the same! So we decided to keep driving up to Kaiteriteri which is a really pretty bay. Not much there but really picturesque. So camped there for 2 nights and went to Motueka a nice small town but with some funky shops and a really nice feel to it. Next stop after that was Marahau - the start of the Abel Tasman walk. Very well known walk in national park area in the Nelson area. We chose to do a 4 day walk (chose - did you get that!!!) and we have been camping enroute. It works out about 4 hours walking each day which we thought would be piece of cake. It\'s going ok but it\'s not the easiest of walks. (Kris and Tash - we are doing the coastal walk - is that what you did?) It\'s quite up and down and with bags and tents I can\'t say its been a doddle. The bonus is when you get to the campsites. They are in the nicest bays and the water and beaches are just unreal! Again - I promise to put pics up but at the mo we are using a throw away camera so not sure how they will come out! We finish tomorrow and get a water taxi back to the start where the car is. Then we are off to Nelson and the Marlborough Sounds area. Hope you are all getting set for Christmas. Love to you all and thanks for all your messages - it makes our day! xxxx
