Today we had to check out of our hostel to head back down to Auckland. We had to be out of the room by 10am, however the bus wasn't until 2.45 in the afternoon so we had a few hours to kill. We went and got a bacon sarnie in a small cafe that had wifi too so we used that to email family. Today was absolutely epic! We had an early start for our day trip to Cape Reinga. Our bus driver today was called Barry, an extremely energetic guy for 7am!! But turned out to be an absolute hero! Our first stop of the day (not including the Bakery stop) was at a forest where you can see some of the largest trees in New Zealand, still early and a bit chilly but pretty nonetheless. Hardly hungover we got up after all the other people in our room had checked out. We headed into the busier part of the small town to get some lunch which we enjoyed in a pretty park next to the beach. The scenery here is wonderful. The town was rather quiet today due to there being a military funeral at the local church. We begin our Kiwi Experience today! Pip drove us to the meeting point for a 7am start on the bus. On the journey we met 3 English lads called Lee, Drew and Andy. We arrived in Paihia around midday and checked into our hostel, then headed down to the beach with the lads. They started drinking then so did we... Any tourist who walked past joined us and bought some drink too! We played drinking games all afternoon in the sun on the gorgeous beach until around 6p...
