Hiya everyone!
Unfortunately, we have had to leave Chiang Mai at some point and start moving towards Bangkok as Neil's holiday is slowly but surely coming to an end. On Monday, we moved to Sukothai, the first Thai capital. There isn't really much here apart from the Old Sukothai Park, which is a Unesco World Heritage site with loads of temples from the 13th and 14th century. We decided to splash out a bit and booked ourselves into a nice guesthouse with swimming pool where we spent both yesterday's and today's afternoon. But we haven't just been lazy, we went on a cycling tour today to see the ruins of the temples at the Old City. The tour was supposed to last 5 to 6 hours but I was glad when it finished after 4.5 hours as my bottom is certainly not used to sitting on uncomfortable cycling saddles anymore! And the heat at lunch time was quite overwhelming, it was around 35 degrees today!!! So we finished off the cycling tour by having a snake whiskey (which according to Neil is better than Scottish whiskey, I can't comment, I didn't try) and then spent the rest of the afternoon in our air-conditioned bungalow and at the pool. Tomorrow, we are heading off to Ayutthaya, the last stop before Bangkok. Everyone I have met on my travels has said how nice it is, so am curious what it'll be like. Anyway, will hopefully be able to up date the blog with the remaining photos in Bangkok (t'internet isn't really that quick here and the computers don't even have a CD player!). So watch this space! Until then, as always,
Keep smiling!
Yvonne
