Hi everyone!
After an annoying couple of afternoons fighting with the so called broadband, I have now managed to upload the pictures of the last two weeks, well, at least some of them. Apart from that, I have spent the last two days trying to get everything organised for my trek which starts tomorrow morning at 6.15am. For all of you who thought I was on holiday, I must correct you slightly, I have probably been up earlier that most of you most of the time. For the past 2 weeks, our itinerary usually started between 5am and 7am!! But it was absolutely amazing. I have probably said that before....
Well, tomorrow is the day of the trek now. I am filled with a mixture of anticipation, excitement and doubts. Everyone I have met said that it is bloody hard and f***ing freezing up there. So I spent quite a bit of money buying some additional warm clothes, hoping that about 6 layers will keep even me warm! Can't wait really. But it also means that you will have to be patient as I won't be able to update this website for at least 3 weeks (this is how long the trek takes). I have booked a couple of days in a nice hotel at the end of the trip in Pokahara though, to warm up and chill out with a nice bottle of wine, enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and the lake view. So far I have been lucky, the food has been absolutely fantastic, and I even managed to escape the world famous Delhi belly!!! Whatever I have ordered in a restaurant (and often I didn't have a clue what it would be) has been really tasty and delicious. Long may it continue. Although, there were a few lessons to be learned, like do not expect anything, stick with local food and nothing is ever as it seems. I ordered enchiladas one night in ChitwanNational Park and they were good. Some people of my group ordered vegetable lasagne and moussaka and they were exactly the same although in a different dish and with the dough bit in a different shape... Real funny when we discovered that. Both India and Nepal have been so cheap that it is really difficult to spend your money (don't worry, I will manage somehow...). Breakfast costs about 200 NPR, which is about 1.50 pounds, and that includes, a huge bowl of muesli with fresh yoghurt and honey, tea, and homemade bread, butter and jam. Dinner is equally cheap, costing about 350 NPR, 2.20 pounds, excluding alcoholic drinks. So hopefully, this has given you a flavour for how wonderful Nepal is (didn't like India half as much) but if not, just wait until I'll publish more photos in 3 weeks time.
Until then, keep smiling everyone!
