Guilin - China
Today I finally get to do some much needed exercise. Nothing beats a 10k bike ride with a bit of bamboo rafting and lunch.
It was a nice early start of 8am, but I would rather cycle below 30 degrees than above it, it you get me. So we took a nice scenic route outside of Guilin. It was a short ride of 1 hour, with photo opportunities along the way.
We soon arrived at the bamboo rafting start point and the journey down stream was around 1.5 hours. The bamboo raft has a double garden chair in the middle with a place to put up the garden umbrella to protect us from the sun of course and then a lovely man on the back to paddle you down stream. There are as you can see from the picture a few exciting and adventurous spots on the way.
After the rafting, it was back on the bikes, which had been loaded on the back of a truck to the finishing point and then off to a local farmers house for a buffet style lunch. Ater lunch it was a 8k cycle back to the hotel. I had 10 minutes to get ready for my Kung Fu lesson.
The Kung Fu Lesson took place down the local park - so no air conditioned room for us, worse thing was the class started at 2pm, so we were dripping whilst learning. I wish I had put my shorts on. I had my white line combats - it was going to happen hey, As I did the splits, i split my combats too... The shame of it.
The class was fantastic and I am sure if you asked, I could repeat all the moves that I had learnt that day! lol!
