We have now crossed the border from Cambodia to Laos! Our 3 days of temples in Siem Reap were impressive. 3 days was maybe a bit much but had to be done to see the big ones. I loved Cambodia, the people were so friendly. On a night out on pub street, we were making our way home and stumbled into a street party as it was their new year. It was so much fun people were throwing water and talcum powder for good luck and teaching us Cambodian dances.
The journey to Laos was not fun. We first went to Paske and on the way our bus ran over a cow. It was awful. We were sat right at the front and it felt like i'd run the cow over myself, it was a right bang and I had to try my best not to cry like a girl. To be fair the bus had nowhere to go other than into the cow it just didnt run accross quick enough. I always sit at the back now.
We stopped at Paske then Vientiene but there was nothing much to see there. We stayed one night each to break up the travelling then made our way to Vang Vieng.
Vang Vieng has been my favourite place in Laos. I think it was absolutely beautiful, a small town in the middle of the mountains with a river running through. The place is heaving with backpackers ready for drinking and tubing along the river. I loved it. We had many drunken nights out. One night we were at a place called bucket bar and if you find a silver bucket you get free drink all night. And I found it, and we didn't remember much after that. Whoop
Tubing was so much fun. You go along the river on a tube from the inside of a tyre, and float from bar to bar in the sunshine. There are also slides and zip wires which were a lot of fun. We have many bruises to show for it the next day but poor Rob really hurt himself so we had to stay a few more days drinking - what a bind lol
We also went to a cave and a blue lagoon which was amazing! The cave was cool, not many tourists and you really had to struggle and climb to get through which was fun, if not a bit hard work. So afterwards we realxed with a swim in the blue lagoon. You could see the fish swimming in it it was that clar - bliss.
Were now in Luang Probang for a few days before we cross to Thailand. Bring it on :)
