We had a great day out sailing yesterday in the Bay of Islands. It was a little chillier than usual as their was a South West wind coming up from Antarctica - equivalent to a Nor Easter at home (coming from the Arctic). There was also a little rain to start, but things cleared up halfway after not too long. As true Canadians, we were the only ones out on deck - and, it was at least 25 degrees warmer than the temps we left back at home.
We sailed out to one of the islands where Griffin and I kayaked in from the boat and Wyatt took a big jump off of the front of the boat and swam in. Unfortunately, that left Craig to come in on the regular boat with our towels, etc.
Once at the island, we did a hike up to the top and outermost point for a spectacular view. Followed by a swim and then back to the boat for lunch.
The sail back was particularly breezy and we made it back in pretty short order. Due to the wind, we could not be let off in Russell, so were brought to Pahia and given ferry tickets back to Russell. We took a quick jaunt around Pahia, but were not impressed, so hopped on the ferry back to Russell.
We ended the day with takeaway fish and chips on our deck with a bottle of NZ Sauvignon Blanc.
All in, a great day!
