Pimba, what a good place to stop over, showers, toilets, plenty of van spots, siting here having breakfast, sun streaming in on us, sad to leave. Good trip to Port Augusta, saw the guy & truck that moves road kill from the road on the way. Fueled up 139.9. A guy at the servo bought to my attention that our led light bar was hanging off the front of the Isuzu, just hanging by the electrical wires, thanks mate, hock strapped it up, broken mounting brackets. Maccas looks good for lunch & coffee. Heading to Morgan via Wilmington, Melrose, Murray Town, Laura, Gladstone, Spalding, Burra & Morgan Riverside Caravan Park on the Murray River site # 24. It has a ferry that takes you and your car to the other side of the Murray. The town looks interesting, so we will give it a go tomorrow, we are here for two nights, another long day in the car, about seven hours.

Out and about, did the heritage walk, Morgan was founded in 1878, very interesting little place, only 450 people live here, great old buildings to look and read about. It has a terrific green grassy area right on the river and a lookout that looks right over the main town and river. Back for lunch, on the bike for a ride, along the river edge for as far as we could go, to the lookout, a bit of rain about, on the ferry to the other side, checked out the holiday houses that look back over to Morgan, they are in a great spot, also found a heap of camping spots among the huge gum trees, right on the rivers edge, with fire pits! Back at the van, a bit of rain around, tea and relax, a great day had.

Leaving Morgan today, crossed on the ferry to the other side, following the Murray River south, great views of cliffs all the way down to Blanchetown, nice little town, checked out Lock 1, very impressive, fueled up 147.9, back on the road, still great views, we are stopping and starting all the way at lookout spots, taking plenty of pics. Made it to Swan Reach, a RV friendly town, found the lookout on the way in, it over looked a camping area on the other side on the Murray, so on the ferry we went, checked it out and got a good spot, two nights here will be good, setup, lunch, then off for a drive to Walker Flat, great views and scenery all the way, crossed on the ferry and travelled back to Swan Reach on the other side. Met the guy beside us, Jerry and his dog Benny, the two of them have been on the road since 2014, (Lost his partner) he is 71 and is enjoying his traveling life, following the sun. A few boats and house boats traveling by, Murray Princess went passed a huge paddle steamer, the whole back is the paddle wheel. Went to the Swan Reach Hotel for tea which stands about 30 meters above and over looks the river, flood lights light up the huge gum trees, great views from the Pub.

7am up, checked out the Murray, there is a light fog over the top, looks fantastic, pelicans, ducks and water hens are moving in and out of the fog. A couple of people left this camping spot this morning, left some empty spots, I am sure they will be filled before long. Chatted to other campers, hearing about their travels and tips...Off for a walk, on the ferry to Swan Reach, had a walk around the town, very quite place, locals happy to chat. Met a guy (Dennis) at the boat ramp who had just arrived in a fully equipped tinny, he has traveled on the river from Albury, he is heading to Goolwa, where the Murray Mets the ocean, 65 days on the river, wanted to know where he could buy a pie, l’m sick of eating fish he said, had a chat, he has had a great experience on the river. Relaxing afternoon, taking pics of the bird life around us, and plenty of boat vessel going by. Camp fire, Dennis turned up to camp for the night, with other campers before turning in. It’s 930pm and guess what? It’s just started raining.

Not much rain during the night, nice lay in, 12c, wind picking up, time to go, left camp spot 11am, first stop Bowhill, very small quick look then of to Mannum, bigger place than I thought, it has two ferries to cross the river, side by side, we used them both! Drove though the town, RV friendly, good to know for next time, wet and blowy, they build house boats here, four on the go side by side, at different stages near the road! Mannum definitely deserves another visit......
On to Murray Bridge, stopped at the speedway, they are doing a lot of work to the spectator area, and top dressed the camping area, great for next season. Lunch and coffee. Fueled up 145.9. Good run windy, raining on and off, stopped at Tintinara for a splash of fuel 139.9. Heading for Bordertown, Lake Free Camping, for our last night, arrived 530pm, nearly dark, cold, 8c and wet…hot meal in our van, it’s amazing how warm the van is now. Aim for home tomorrow...cheers...
