Day 2 Buenos Aires
Went to a Sunday market which covered a number of city blocks with stalls out in the streets as well as in a couple of large buildings. This market was mainly antiques and I was surprised by how much stuff there wes on offer for one city! We had lunch in a local Italian restaurant and had my second encounter with a beggar in as many days with a old woman going from table to table, the staff did not seem to even notice her. Saw some magnificent parks and was also surprised of the number of homeless people living in the parks totally out in the open. On the way back to Ryan's we helped a English girl who was very distressed and had just been robbed a minute before. We got her to her hostel and got a police number for her. She unfortunately had all her money, passport, phone, credit card etc taken and although insured she was understandably very upset.
Back at the hotel for a shower and then at 7 down to the lobby to meet for the first time my fellow travelers and was glad there was a few people my age. We all went out to a steak restaurant for dinner to get to know each other better and after that I went out with a couple of lads from Traralgon to drink a few Stella's which is sold in liter bottles, saves time between rounds to buy in bulk. People here eat late and dont have dinner until 10pm however it was still interesting to observe a family with 3 young daughters not leaving our watering hole until midnight and this was prior to a school day.
